Laura Turner, director of Altitude Camps: “Our goal is to provide a positive arena for children where we can achieve all our values of professionalism, safety, team spirit and education.”

Altitude was originally founded in 2001 as ski and snowboard school. Many years later, we’ve come a long way and now offer ski and snowboarding lessons and instructor training courses during the winter and our famous International Summer Camps during the summer!

Altitude has grown from strength to strength and is renowned throughout the Alps for its quality of service and professional staff. I am personally always on hand to ensure the smooth running throughout each and every camp.

Why Altitude Camps?

At Altitude, we strive for our camps to be memorable, fulfilling and, most importantly, a fun summer experience for every camper. Our core values of Safety, Professionalism, Team Spirit, and Education remain at the heart of everything we do.

Small camp sessions of no more than 50 campers, mean that all our campers are known on an individual basis by each member of staff. This positive and supportive ‘home from home’ environment allows each camper to learn new skills and navigate new experiences, while remaining safe and happy at camp.

Our group sizes, be these in language classes, mountain adventure groups or our afternoon programme, remain small with a high staff to camper ratio of 1:8 at all times, and 1:4 for our Marmot camp with our youngest campers.

Our camp is based in Verbier, a quiet mountain town high in the Swiss alps, where campers can have the freedom to explore and experience the outdoors in a safe environment.

Our staff are all police checked, first aid qualified and experienced in working in their designated roles with children and teenagers.

Our camp programme is run by an experienced Operations Manager, supported by two Head Team Leaders and a Language Coordinator who assist in ensuring the smooth running of the programmes on a daily basis. Behind the scenes, our office team and Director Laura are on hand before, during, and after the camps to provide further support and assist in any way necessary.

Altitude Camp offers campers real opportunities to form close international friendships whilst learning new skills, making memories and having lots and lots of fun. We know that parents like to share in their child’s camp experience as well, and we try to keep you up to date with as much of the campers experience as possible while they are away, on our Facebook, Instagram, and by creating a video of each camp session as well as a private ‘Parent Photo Album’ so you can see and download photos of your camper and their friends.

What are conditions of accommodation for residential Camps?

Campers stay in traditional Swiss-style private chalets, conveniently located within easy walking distance of the town centre of Verbier, as well as the mountain lifts and sports facilities.

Altitude staff co-ordinate all language lessons and activities between 9am and 9pm each day. Our staff also stay in the chalet each night with the campers providing 24 hour supervision to each and every child.

Bedrooms are split boy/girl and we sleep no more than four campers to a room, each with its own private bathroom, to provide children enough personal space as well as friends to share bunk time and stories with. Internet, indoor games and table tennis are included in all chalets to allow children to relax during the free time and also to communicate with their parents whilst being away.

We understand the importance of providing quality accommodation and healthy, nutritious food. For this reason, we only employ experienced staff, and our chefs use fresh produce, with all meals freshly prepared on the day. We are also happy to cater for all dietary requirements.

For those travelling to Verbier as a family, the town provides an extensive range of accommodation from cosy petite apartments to glorious chalets and 5* hotels.

We can arrange for the perfect accommodation solution for you and your family, whether that be somewhere within walking distance of the Altitude camp, a 5 star hotel with a spa and pool, or a chalet tucked away in a peaceful mountain setting.
