Maria Teresa Cascini, president of AMICI DELL’INGLESE Cultural Linguistics Association and founder of English Summer Camp: “The children love our camps! They don’t have to bring books, they don’t have to study!”

Robinzonada We started in 2013. We were looking for something funny and useful for the kids. Usually summer camps are boring and children do not learn much!

The camps started in order to give a good place for our children to learn English, stay with other kids and have fun! We started with 9 kids altogether, last year we had 145 kids!

- Where does your camp take place?

The camps take place in Perugia (14 km from the city) in a beautiful farmhouse.

The Country house of San Lorenzo della Rabatta is an ancient medieval village that sits on top of a hill a few kilometers from the center of Perugia and is the official location of our English summer camps. The property is completely surrounded by greenery and a vast forest and is an ideal place to spend a holiday in nature. The property is equipped with a beautiful swimming pool for kids to use during their time there. The houses are all very spacious and furnished with care and taste. The restaurant is run efficiently and is attentive to the needs of the kids. Every day at breakfast there will be cookies and homemade cakes, as well as cereals, milk, tea and juice. Meals for lunch and dinner vary and are always made with fresh and healthy products.

- What seasons do you work?

We work from 18 June to 15 July.

- What language do you speak in the camp?

English and Italian.

To stimulate conversation and learning of the language, there will be time allotted everyday for personal conversation with a native speaker or tutor. Non-native Italian speakers can use this time to practice Italian!

- What do kids do in the camp?

Our camps are special because there are no traditional educational activities; only fun activities.

During their stay there, children will be accompanied in their work by native English-speaking tutors and qualified English-language teachers who, through play and fun, will push your kids to communicate freely in English. For native English speakers, Italian language practice is provided.

For non-native Italian speakers, there are Italian language classes and games offered where children will have an opportunity to learn the language and better understand the Italian culture through cooking Italian recipes. All day, children participate in board games, group games, water games, sports competitions, cooking competitions and more!

Being in our camps will feel like being abroad in a wonderful and safe environment, in a location not far from Perugia, the middle region of Italy. Fun activities are scheduled every day including games with prizes, contests, dances, shows, karaoke, pool games, exciting treasure hunts, picnics in the woods, barbecue, bingo, cinema, theater, disco and fashion shows!

Why should children and parents choose your camp?

Because our camps are different!

Children don’t have to bring books, they don’t have to study! The place is beautiful and safe. We do not accept many kids in the camp – so we treat them as a big family.

How do you choose camps staff?

Pure teachers and counsellors have an English teacher certificate and most of them have a degree. They have to love the kids to be accepted!

What is your main goal?

To have kids want to come back to the camp next year. As a matter of fact we have many repeaters.

Leave the books at home and participate in the only English Camp where it is “FORBIDDEN TO STUDY!” No desks, no homework, only sports and fun!
