My first degree is music education. As a mom of three kids, I know that playing games is the most effective, creative & positive way to learn something. It’s fun too!
We started our project in 2014 in Palanga, Lithuania.
I wanted my son to go to some English language programme, but there was none around. It was our summer holiday, so we needed a daily camp. Next summer I drew a team and hosted the first camp.
- What is your mission?
To discover NARNIA we are supposed to speak its language.
So go ahead to the great adventure!
Сildren differ from each other, from year to year. Watching them grow, training speaking, seeing new meanings is utterly inspiring.
- Please tell us about your program. What skills and knowledge do you give to children?
We have 40 kids in 5 groups.
NARNIA is the place where we feel free to talk about different things in English language pretending to be fairytale creatures. Students have their speaking practice both in groups and privately with a teacher to control the progress. As a result, children’s speaking skills are getting significantly improved in a period of 2 weeks.
We have a family summer camp for everyone and the bike ride to Nida for intermediate+ level. It’s a speaking practice as travelers on a very interesting route with English-speaking conductor.
We speak English, Russian and Lithuanian.
- Who do you expect in your camp?
Eco-friendly people, family-oriented, tourists, sporty companies, sociable children who enjoy group activities. Families with children from 6 to 17 years old is formally our target audience.
We start at 9 a.m. playing, crafting, making perfomances etc. to 3 p.m. every working day. Children have 6 activities – all of them are outdoors. We have a tea break at 11 a.m. and lunch at 2 p.m. Parents who want to watch their child during lessons can join us.
- Why should parents and children prefer your camps to all others?
It’s a different way to enjoy a family holiday with children, discovering each other, spending time by the sea not only lying on the beach, but having fun, improving relations using a new language in the magic place named NARNIA.
Our teachers have the ESL certificates. Moreover, a crucial part is to be the team of players, so we collect our staff from highly skilled educators on one hand and volunteers on another. For instance, students who want to gain experience at our method. One of our teachers has her own summer camp, another girl is a professional actress, also one teacher in NARNIA has a PhD in Philology!
- Would you send your own children to your camp if you were an ordinary client?
Yes, our children take part every year, and they don’t like to stay with us, parents. They prefer to be an ordinary child in a group where nobody knows who is his\her mom. But the format of a family program has destroyed this strategy.
We learn English not by just talking over different things. We have an algorithm and strictly adhere to it. Thus, our students improve their speaking skills in a short time.
